|
|
Hi, I really do not want to part with my 80 but having problems with the auto box. Symptoms are overdrive not working, sometimes pulls away and will not change up. I am no expert just like my truck but after three visits to the garage, two transmission fluid changes and no apparent electrical faults I have been advised on a gearbox replacement which is going to be expensive, I have been quoted £750 then add fitting costs. Are there any specialists near me in Wales who may be able to help because a gearbox swap will probably mean me having to sell as it stands. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks Derek |

wiring or solenoid issue in the box. If overdrive light flashing definitely electrical. How many miles on your box? |

Hi, its done 170000 and was fine but started playing up, mechanic did fluid change twice and reckons he checked the box but reckons replacement is the better option but I just cannot really justify the expense. My house is eating all my spare cash so I think it will have to be sold as is.
Thanks for your help as I think the box is okay but the mechanic is trained by Toyota and has had it for ages although I have it back now as I live in the countryside and need transport Surely if the gearbox was knackered it would not drive okay?? My concern is the box is changed and the problem remains.
Cheers

I wouldn't swap the box it will repair and you may inherit problems with a used box try wiring or solenoids. certainly don't sell the vehicle for a small fault like that 177000 is low mileage as long as the oil has not been burnt really black |
