|
|
Hi all,
I bought a kzj 73 last year and have had continual overheating issues with sustained periods of uphill or speeds over 70. I noticed mainly it was happening at over 3k rpm. Temperature would suddenly rise, and coolant would leak out the expansion tank.
Having changed the thermostat and cleaning and reverse flushing the rad I moved onto the head.
I've just taken it apart and was surprised to see the head looks pretty new.
The old owner has been a dead loss with anything and obviously just wanted this problem off their hands.
I wonder if any of your experienced guys could offer any guidance or suggestions? Water in the turbo or something?
I'm yet to check the head for warping as I have no straight rule here.
Here's some photos, annoyingly it wont let me insert them into the post as I'm a newbie.

I ended up putting in a new radiator in my KZJ70, which sorted out my overheating problem. Washing it out did not work for me.

Head appears OK but the blurred image doesn't help.
Gasket ditto.
If head was warped, gasket would blow.
Re-assemble with new gaskets and fit new Toyota thermostat (NOT a copy).

I to went thru all the checks , refilled the viscos fan , new thermos state, flushed radiator, no joy until I had the radiator roded, take the top tank off and clean the scale from the insides of the tubes. well worth doing. _________________ Kevin at oldblue295@gmail.com
