I have a 2-door Toyota Cruiser made in 1992 at the Salvador Caetano facility - VM Motori engine 4cyl  2.5 TD.   I am having a hell of a time locating technical manuals and related info after extensive internet searching.   I know its a piece of garbage engine, and plan to replace the engine with a 13B-T at some point, but that's out of my budget for now, and need to be able to work with what I have for now.

Anyone with some technical material or experience working on these models who can shed some insight here will be forever in my debt.

yo. I can help with this. pm me your email adress and I'll send what I have.

got engine manuals and loads of other bits and bobs.

Don't be too hard on the VM... it's actually a bombproof engine if you look after it... and if you can live with the turbo lag.

The one I have fitted at the moment is 25 years old and has been abused and it refuses to die. I have another on the bench only five years old waiting for new seals and rings but I just cant be bothered while the other one goes so strong.

anyway... the portugese BJ73 is a classic. good on ya.
