Lost 5th gear

2003 v8 facelift model 100 series 5 speed auto..
couple of days ago noticed a clunk and a slight surge when going from N to Drive, topped oil up but not really solved it, now realised its not going into 5th gear...any ideas please...

I thought the 2003 only had 4 forward gears !

A442F - 4 Speed Automatic Transmission

   1993-2001 LandCruiser (1UZ-FE & 1HDT)

A750F - 5 Speed Automatic Transmission

   2003-2007 LandCruiser (2UZ-FE & 1HDT)

If you have topped up the fluid it is the old four speed as the five speed is a sealed box and cannot be topped up

Hi
I don't know why you are laughing that is the case, the only way to add or change the special oil is by
removing the sump plate
