Just wanna gauge an opinion as to what you guys would do confronted with this situation.. Air con works for about a week or so when re-charged, so obviously a leak.. Results of the UV dye test are below
As you can see... the MAIN leak is coming from the left-hand connection to the condenser - however the condenser itself also has a smaller leak running around the rim. First of all before I can do any repair I assume I'll need the whole system de-pressurised.
The compressor I assume will need replacing - I doubt it's simply a case of unscrew it and put a new rubber seal in there..
The hose connecting to the condenser - obviously they won't make these anymore.. how can I figure out a part number?
Just wondering if people here would tackle this or not? |

Sorry I meant the COMPRESSOR itself also has a smaller leak running around the rim |

Have you tried a leak sealer ?

I had a similar leak at the receiver/dryer and had a mobile air-con specialist come out to fix it. He cleaned up the faces of the connection and used a new O ring and it's fine now. Parts availability is good on these vehicles and some hoses and O rings are generic. Condensers are easy to get. The compressor leak looks fairly minor to me.
The guy I used was Pete at https://www.coolrunners-southampton.co.uk/ Not sure he comes as far as London but I'd recommend him if you fancy a day in Hampshire. _________________ 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado 3.4VX |

Not yet - for the simple reason that I tried doing the UV dye myself and the stupid thing didn't fit on the low pressure port.. (paid to have it done) - so I was dubious about paying for a sealer if it turns up and doesn't fit.. Has anyone tried any of these?
I was thinking that or just bung a load of expoxy where it's leaking and hope for the best |

Thanks Modrvs I'll maybe look up a local mobile specialist and see what they say
I have a garage nearby but they're not air con specialists and they're pretty pricey! |

The problem is that a load of garages have machines, and they seem to charge from £50 upwards, the machine does all the work and the guys only know basics, this happened to friends of mine, they had it recharged 5 times, and each time they changed O rings and valves (Only charged the once), so I told them to get a mobile guy to look at it, he came and diagnosed the problem straight away, week later he came with new parts, had to remove front bumper and bits, but after 3 hours it was fixed, was £400 to do with a 2 year warranty, you get what you pay for. _________________ It's Not a Bl**dy Jeep it's a Landcruiser
