|
|
I'm having a lot of bother doing the prop on my 120. My gun can barely get in when doing the nipples in the u joints! I'm never attached correctly and just wasting grease.
I have a basic lever grease gun with a screw type 4 claw tip.
Would a solid tube with a push on nipper connector be better? What are you guys doing for u joint grease service? _________________ 2007 LC4 |

I've got a large standard large refillable grease gun which i've had for decades, with flexible pipe and standard claw type connector, yes you have to make sure it's pushed well on (ensuring the nipple is clean before attempting to connect) but once on and locked it does the job well.
I also picked up a Laser Products adaptor (£10 ish) for the gun from the Bay, which is about 8" long and ends in a narrow rounded point with a nipple at its gun end to connect to the standard gun but you could attach it directly too as it has a threaded fitting, i use this to repack any suspect CV joints on my cars with the correct grease via the gun, snipping the clip at the small end of the boot and shoving the probe all the way up to the joint then pumping merrily away...if you are interested in one of these and can't find it via a search i'll put the part number or official name of it up on another post.
I've repacked dozens of CV joints over the years (wish i'd owned one of these probes sooner ) and have never had to change one yet. |

A hose connector is much better as you can set the prop shaft with the nipple pointing upwards and bend the hose to suit. Due to the angle of the shaft, the space around the nipple makes contact easier.

If you have access to a Bench grinder, grind a few mm off the outside of the connector. It fits then |
