|
|
Hi everyone, this is my first message on the Owners Club Forum but I've been enthusiastically reading along on a lot of topics. We've recently (two weeks ago) bought our first Land Cruiser ever, it's a HZJ78 and I've been trying to decipher the model code. I found a lot of information already but I can't figure out these two:
HZJ78 L-RJMRSW
HZ = engine type/1HZ
J = Land Cruiser
78 = Generation and series
L = left hand drive
R =
J = body type/Jeep
M = 5-speed manual, floor shift
R =
S = engine class/standard engine with single carburettor
W = European market
So both the R's are still a mystery to me. They should tell me something about the model name and grade but why 'R'? What does it stand for?
I'm hoping someone can tell me how to explain it, thanks! |

Yes, I've seen it, it said that the second R means Standard Equipment, but still doesn't say what equipment exactly. The first R should tell me something about the body type, I figured it should mean something like Hardtop (because it is), but not sure yet. Was hoping for someone that had figured it out already, haha.
Thanks for your response! |

If you put this HZJ78 L-RJMRSW into Toyodiy it tells you in detail all the parts it has. For example it says it has drum brakes on the rear, it also has the high altitude compensator on the fuel pump and it was only made from 99-01. I cant explain the R's but overall , the code identifies exactly the parts it would have.
The Australian models, apart from being RHD have rear disc brakes and no high altitude compensator when you add their code. _________________ 1995 HZJ75 troop carrier

Anyone
I have an LJ73 and I have no idea what the differences are to BJ73 and FJ73 etc.
Tried google and even that goes off on different tangents.
Can any experts advise?

The first letter is the type engine B = 4 cyl diesel, L 4 cyl smaller diesel, F = 6 cyl petrol engine.
This is the best place to look http://www.cruiserfaq.com/00-01.php Go to section 14.0 decoding your plates. _________________ 1995 HZJ75 troop carrier
