Hi, all.

A month or so ago, my driver's side electric window was being much slower than usual, going up or down. I took the car to my local trusted garage, who couldn't reproduce the perceived fault. As a precaution, I asked how much a genuine replacement motor would cost; they quoted £350. They advised me to see how it performed in the next few weeks.

It was -3^oC, this morning, and I had the problem, again. It seems it's related to the cold. Does anyone know if anything can be done to help with this, or is it time to think about replacing the motor/ regulator?

Many thanks,

Chris.

It's more than likely the rubber window runners, try cleaning them with soapy water and an old tooth brush and then spray with silicone lubricant, but if it does turn out to be the motor try getting one from a scrap yard, most are the same wiring as long as they are the same side, and around the same year.

Thanks, Andy; I'll give that a go, tomorrow.

Cheers,

Chris

Yep Silicone Spray on the runners works 99% of the time... fixed many an Electric window with a few puffs of spray down the seals....

just try not to get overspray on the glass or it can go a bit smeary

Hi, all.

The window has been going up and down much more quickly, since spending £7 on some silicon spray; just need another cold snap now, to see whether I get the problem, again.

Thanks,

Chris.
