|

Hey Guys,
I hope you can help.
I sent my 4.2TD in for MOT and service. The garage says the above vlave appears to be leaking fuel. Wasn't doing it before it went in and there's no issues with codes or anything.
They have removed the part and the local diesel specialist reckons its a £180 part.
Is this the correct name for the part? I'll try to add a photo and it appears to be the same as one I've seen on google images.... which is where I have the name of the part from.
Any help would be gratefully received.... really frustrating scenario.

I also can't see how to edit a post I just wanted to say that th egarage isnt sure WHERE its leaking from - the photo here shows the O-ring to be proud of the shaft.... inside the pump assembly - but mine isn't standing so proud..... could it be leaking past that and then the flange.... there does seem to be a brass section of body on the extrnal of the flange that "could" have parted slightly and "could" possibly be leaking from there. I'm just being left with the problem.... so if someonecan help on this - I'd be really grateful.

If it is leaking there can they just not replace the O-ring? That can only cost a few pence. _________________ 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado 3.4VX |

Yes that's my ideal scenario - I'm trying to find out if it's the o-ring and upside down location that makes th econnector look like its leaking OR if it's stuffed and I need a new valve. I was hoping someone here woul dknow the difference and expectation of the valve.
I have asked how much labour was involved to take out the valve - so I can decide if I take the chance on a new o ring and rebuild to find it no different.
I find it really odd that there was no issue just prior to MOT and all of a sudden theres a leak.
If there's anyone with experience of this it'd be helpful. PLUS if anyone has connections where this part can be sourced cheaply if need be?
Any help? |

I changed this a couple of years ago, easy enough to do if you can work with mirrors, and the reason I found mine was leaking was that fuel was tracking up the wiring loom, was dripping into the passenger foot well.
Search my old post's to find more details. _________________ It's Not a Bl**dy Jeep it's a Landcruiser

Thanks Andy,
I wasn't sure if it was the o-ring that was leaking - the garage seemed 60% sure it was leaking out of the connector not the flange - so Ive bitten the bullet as it appears to be a fairly common fault. I just didnt want the cost of replaceing the valve for sake of pennies o-ring.
It's a shame no one has a rig that can pressure test these things and maybe new resin to stop the leak as the valve is functioning perfectly.
