ok heres the issue

my cruiser 2007 lc5 auto
so it has HNL short gear stick
the normal auto gear lever
CDL switch just in front of the other two sticks.....

now i know your not supposed to do anything on tarmac but just thought id see if cold engage the different systems and mybe move just a metre two in a straight line suggesting that wont do any damage...

heres the thing....manual says press cdl and the flashing dash light will go out when the central diff is locked......doesnt say anything about if i need the other levers in any sequence.......

so sat in car
engine running
car in d4

press cdl ...dashlight just sits and flashs and does nothing else

think ive tried every combination of levers to get the dashlight to stay light and "engaged" but all it does is sit and flash......

what am i doing wrong ?

thanks

Not sure on the 120 series, but you need to be in low range on other models.

Do not know on the 120 but on mine if I try to engage the centre or rear diflock in high range, it flashes red and will not engage, if I press button in low range it flashes yellow until it engages.

Kind regards

Russell.

120 does not need to be in low to use diff lock. Normally only on slippery surfaces.
If stationary press cdl and traction control and diff lock lights on dash will flash amber. You may need to move forward a little to allow some slack in the system for cdl to engage and then dash light will go solid amber, traction control light will go out.
Same to disengage sometimes moving forward or back will allow diff lock to disengage.

Can you get off road and try it. Maybe it’s stuck due to lack of use and just needs exercising.
Other than that may need hooking up to a fault code reader.

Tried my LC5 yesterday to confirm.

Pressing the centre diff lock button in high range the light just flashes, nothing else happens.

Select N, shift the lever to Low range, then press the button, the light goes solid and the VSR light illuminates.

Got us all trying difflocks out now. I tried mine on my 150 this morning and the centre difflock does work in high range just pushed the button while in N and it flashed yellow then locked, the rear diff will only lock in low range, push the rear difflock button in high range and it flashes red, push it in low range and it behaves the same as centre, yellow flashing untill locked.

Kind regards

Russell.

It must have been sticking a bit, hadn't used it for some time, now my CDL does work when in high range too.

Never needed to use it in anger yet, the traction system on these seems to sort out most situations by itself, but when next i'm on a loose surface i shall lock it in so its gets some exercise.

A friend with an old square Trooper, so not full time AWD, needed 4WD when he got stuck one day, he said it went in with an almighty bang when it finally engaged, and i've been remiss in not exercising my systems more recently, should have been more hands on as i used to exercise the front hubs and diff on my 70 series regularly.
