Hi all hope someone can help I have a 53 reg LC4 auto with only 289,000 miles. Before my ownership it had a poor life but ran tip top other than not liking to start when hot. PROBLEM. After refuelling with V- power Diesel (which I have since avoided) it broke down with the engine and tc light on and goes into limp home mode, code read P1226, after some research I changed the suction control valves and all was fixed for 3 months, then the poor start came back but no lights, it was then serviced and they changed the fuel filter which solved the poor start. I then did about 1000 miles with no problem but last month same thing happened first poor start when hot then when the engine is at temperature and on tick over the lights come up, if you restart the engine the lights go out but soon return. So took suction control valves out cleaned them and problem solved till last week as the poor starting has returned. She is serviced every 6 months and has had 2 fuel filters in the last 12  there is no lack of power the injectors rattle a bit when cold but are well within tolerances, it seams to be pump/fuel filter related. One suggestion is the pump is breaking up blocking the valves but other than that we are stumped.
