|
|
Hi I hi have a 95 series Colorado and is looking at getting a 120 series. I have looked at about 10 of them now, only 1 of them is with working ac. Is this a common problem? There isn’t any obvious leak from the ac connection points that I can see but none of the compressor engaged and the gas viewing glass seems to show no gas in the system.
Please 120 owners can you guys shed some some lights? Thanks. |

Strange coincidence but I have just bought a 2004 LC125 and the AC wasn't working so I took it in to a place with one of these all-singing/dancing machines. They confirmed the compressor wasn't engaging and offered a free leak check which it passed but showed less than 5% of gas present, so they re-gassed it and it's fine now BUT they did say the test cannot rule out an internal leak within the compressor itself so it's fingers crossed! Thanks, did they say anything about the ac pipes? I read online that 120 series ac pipes are known to corrode over time, especially one near exhaust? Anyone can advise?
Please keep us update on how the ac performs/last...
Did the previous owner mentioned when it was re gassed last time? |

As mine is a 125 - the 2dr short wheelbase model - it doesn't have the pipes serving the rear seat under the car that corrode.
I bought it on trade terms (ie no warranty) from a dealer who, I suspect bought it from the auctions, knowing the AC wasn't working so I have no idea when it was last re-gassed sorry.
The AC re-gasser said that if it stopped within 3 months they would sort it! So if it stops working too soon I'll certainly post an update. |

Almost all 120's with dual aircon leak gas, but finding the leak point proves almost impossible.
Repiping the rear aircon is a seriously expensive job, i've heard by the time it's all done and regassed you'll be knocking on four figures (though in aircon world this isn't expensive, ask anyone with a Honda over about 4 years old where the compressor has typically failed ), it might be worth investigating via a friendly aircon specialist about cutting and sealing off the rear aircon and just leave the front working. |
