Can be caused by a boken plunger on the top of the gearbox.
How to fix suggestion.
Remove the gearbox cover and expose the plastic shift guide mechanism.
Remove the long metal pin to remove the plastic guide.
There should be a metal plunger which locates in the guide.
This may have come out, and the top of the plastic may gave also broken.
No sweat.
Remove the spring, which is a about 30mm long.
Cut the spring back to 20mm and re-insert into the hole.
Take a 6mm drill with a good condition shaft.
Grind a dome on the end of the shaft.
Now grind off the shaft and then grind the plunger to 33mm length.
Insert this into hole on top of the spring and re-assemble.
