Hi Guys
Whilst driving my LC this morning with the handbrake OFF the warning light flashed from time to time.
I have checked the micro switch on the handbrake mounting. All seems OK. Also pushing the button on the micro switch turns the warning light off.
Is there a handbrake shoe ware sensor fitted to the back brakes..
Regards

HI,
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked my brake fluid as requested.
The level was about halfway between the high and low level marks. I have added fluid to bring level up to to the top mark.
LC not tested yet..
Thanks again for your advice.

If that was your problem and you have no fluid leaks your front or rear pads may be wearing and that causes the fluid to drop. |

Hi,
The last short drive was made without the brake warning light coming on.
You are correct the last MOT bloke said the front discs and pads looked a bit low, but are OK for now. I will change them soon I like to keep the old girl well maintained, although I don't do that many miles these days.

I would put £10 on it just being the handbrake microswitch.... maybe just a bit of detritis holding up the lever a tiny fraction, they are VERY sensitive especially when old, probably due to so much use of the switch
No sensors on the pads on the ones I've done, half fluid shouldn't cause a problem - just a sign of some pad/disc wear but not excessive.... |
