Hi I am quite new to Colorado Auto, used to have a manual. Today when I went up a pretty steep hill I selected 2 & L. Went up the climb which lasted a few minutes, when get to top I smell transmission oil burning smell, immediately stopped the car and let it cool down.
When is the appropriate time to use 2 or L in the auto? Have I overused it for too long? Thanks

2 and L is for engine braking going down hill not for pulling up hill, all you did was hold the transmission in one gear when it probably wanted to change up. Use D and let it find what gear it wants, that's the idea of an auto.
