Hi All,

I’m looking at buying an Amazon as a new (to us) family car for my wife...and know nothing about them apart from an occasional horror story on the AHC. Our budget is about £12k all in (including part ex!).

Currently we have a 986 Boxster but due to a massive knee injury my wife sustained it’s no longer an option, also we now need a tow bar for bikes (6yr old boy and me so I can keep up) and imminent dogs, and add to that my company Mercedes isn’t comfortable for her or practical enough either we need a change. We know that mpg isn’t the greatest but that’s ok and we’d get the 4.2 diesel by preference, she does about 12k mikes per year, mainly motorway and a roads, but holidays wise we’re always up to the far north of Scotland to visit family and Cornwall out of season.

So the questions;
A) Is there a buyers guide for the Amazon you can recommend?,
B) is the AHC issue easy to repair, and what is a worst case costing we find a lower priced one that needs it doing?
C) what repair service specialists are in the UK?
D) Is it better to go lower mileage or newer model for the same money. Appreciate that service history is everything!

I’m based in Derbyshire and my background is mainly euro boxes and an old Landy which is a running project. Only other vehicle she likes is the Nissan Pathfinder.

Many thanks,

David

Blimey, it’s quieter on here than the Landy forum  Very Happy I’ll assume it’s because land cruisers never breakdown?!?

If someone can direct me to a buyers guide on grot spots, and any major checks I’d be grateful.
