Hi,

I had quite a lot of body work done a few years back but have come across several rusty/rotted areas under the wheel arches of my 1997 80’s series. The rest of the LC is in excellent condition and to good to give up on so before I look at matching and welding does anyone know of a source for new old stock wings and wheel arch liners other than breakers yards where they are likely to be in a similar condition? Replacement parts from Toyota are just out of the question price wise and I’m struggling to find anything in the UK.

Sam

I had the same, taught myself how to hammer form inner wheel arches. Replaced both rear rotten arches. Took some time to get them right but I'm glad I taught my self. You tube is great loads of old school hammer forming tutorials on there.

Good move, I might have had a go a few years back but as the rear arches incorporate the anchors for the rear seat belts, a potential MOT failure, I passed it on to my local garage who did an excellent job of remaking both of the arches and seat belt points. Each wheel arch is in two sections and I did find some of the parts required in Germany but not a full set and decided not to take the risk of them being wrong. Worked out okay in the end.

Cheers.
