Hi guy, I've been losing coolant from my 2004 LC5 4ltr petrol without seeing any obvious place that it's leaking from plus it's running a bit lumpy on start up and on idle!
What say you?  does that sound like head gasket trouble or worse? Cheers

Not sure why you mean by signs?, but at the start of this the fluid was low  and after topping up the rad with about 6 LTRs of water and after driving it to work and then checking it when it was cold  I noticed that the fluid in the tank had risen to above the max line?

Is that the sort thing you mean? Cheers

Hi stonecutter the expansion bottle can be low in water and there are signes of anti freeze being stained to the sides of the bottle almost like its been boiled on, the oil filler cap can sometimes seem creamy in colour underneath the cap, sometimes the cars heater doesnt get warm. i had a subaru that the head gasket had failed on and these were some of the signes.

Yes I had the low water in the expansion bottle, also the heating going cold on me, no creamy foam in the Oli filler cap yet! Thanks for the info. Cheers

If after testing it proves positive that's it's blown, and tbh it looks very much like it! Can anyone recommend a good garage that knows there way around Landcruisers ???

to be honest its no big deal stonecutter its just a matter of having the head skimmed, any good local garage should be able to take the cylinder head off and send it away for skimming, its just a matter of finding a reliable garage to do it.

Ok cheers! The problem seems to be finding a reliable garage!🤔 The garage that tested it and confirmed it was blown don't really want to take on the job but they have already told me that it's around £1200 for labour plus parts so they said approx 2k all in. How does that sound?? Cheers
