Well took the LC to the garage on a car trailer as its smoking too much to dare drive her.
The smoke smelt and was grey/black and was terrible - chap who owns garage said he hoped it wasn't termiinal?? ouch and its only done 46K miles.
The engine is missing as well?
Hope its not too expensive as I so want this vehicle running as she is a minter.
any more views online experts?
she is a K plate 2.4efi, sorry meant to add this to my last post but started a new one by mistake - tired, been on nights its 2pm and no sleep due to moving LC - poo |

Garage just rang and said engine KO'd, reckons its the head and pistons?
So what are my choices - I paid £1250 for her, is it worth fixing or do I just get rid? |

Have a word with Stevo @ The Engine Co in STOCKPORT MANCHESTER. . He is on 0161-476-6144 .
He knows the 2.4 efi engine inside out, reconditions them and also might have one in stock. _________________ It's Not a Bl**dy Jeep it's a Landcruiser

Sorry about the bad news, trouble is if you try & get rid of it, what are you going to get for it? think your going to have to spend money on it which you will never get back, or dare i say break it for bits, at least you'll cut your losses.

The place I had it off have offered to give me my money back even though Im a fool and I did buy a turbo for it, at least I have the old one which I know is fine and could e bay it?
The problem is that other than this engine issue she is virtualy like a new car. I can't help thinking that if I brought a new head with all the extra's,timing belt etc and fitted it mys elf the total cost would come out at say £2k and I end up with a brilliant car that should last for years?
Shame im so indecisive, the only other option is to give her back and pick up a cheap Pajero but they aint a patch on this beast of an LC???? |

Think i'd be snatching their hand off with an offer like that, i think you'd spend more than that on the parts & all the sundries to do the job, then there's the time & effort unless you are quit handy with the spanners, as the old saying goes, plenty more fish in the sea, or an alternative if you can afford it is buy a cheap run around while looking for another engine & ask the garage to pay the cost of the engine.

Well atken the LC back to who I brought it off and it seems ive lost the money ive spent on the turbo etc no matter what. If I have I want it back.
In all honesty It doesnt behave as bad as the garage that tested it said, hardly any back pressure and runs pretty well - plenty of grunt?
The chap has said he will get it checked as well and if it isnt anything major Im happy to pay out a "bit" as even with spending 400 notes it ends up a decent buy as it is so straight its unreal. And if he accepts some of the cost even better.
Ive been looking at pajero's but for about 2K I get something that done nearly 100K on the clock and is rusty compared to this Prado which is just a sheer luxury motor? |
