hi
can anybody tell me when or what year they started to fit the D4D engines 160bhp in the landcruisers and are they a better engine than the old ones and are they prone to any problems as I am considering buying a landcruiser and wondered if its worth paying the extra.

cheers Dan

Can't comment directly on d4d but having just swapped 159Bhp Isuzu Trooper LWB for 3L TD 125Bhp LWB Colorado, I would say that the LC is as sprightly as the trooper despite the difference in Bhp, the trooper engine was slightly quieter and possibly more refined, but performance wise not much difference. The LC has a much better feel being permanent 4x4 on road compared to the rear wheel drive of the trooper
