My 2000 Landcruiser Colorado came with a neww Kenwood W55410U stereo fitted but I only get static interference when I select the Tuner option. After removing the stereo I discovered the Din type antenna lead from the antenna was not connected to the stereo! There is no mating socket for this type of connector on the rear of the stereo. I presume this is something to do with radios going digital? is there an adaptor I can get to sort this out or do I need to replace the old aerial with a more modern type which will presumably come with a connector which will be compatible with whatever connector is on the back of this stereo? Help!

Hi Andy
Thanks for this but I have already downloaded the same document. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain what I need to do when my 2000 Colorado has a standard din type connector on my antenna but the stereo doesn't have a matching socket. I'm guessing its something to do with radios are now expected to be digital and what I have is an analogue antenna? I'm no electronics boffin so dont quote me on this. I feel I may need to get an updated antenna which receives digital thingymebobs! Any other ideas?

On my 2017 150 series it has a windscreen aerial fitted behind the rear view mirror, so assume it's a digital one.

I think this is probably what I need. I may call in to my local auto electrician and ask for his advice on this matter. Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated.

Morning,

That Kenwood has FM reception so will definately have an Analog Antenna Connector on the back,  There are two type - the "Long" and the "Short"

Digital Antenna's are a different connector alltogether.

You can get an adaptor to conver the end of the Antenna Cable to the short connector

Long Cable to Short ISO Connector;

Iso Cable to Long Stereo Socket;

Hi David
Thanks for your advice. I will have a closer look and order the adaptor. Will keep folks informed if I resolve things.
