I’m a bit puzzled and looking for some wisdom…
I have a 5vz fe. Well maintained but was on the original alternator and it was a bit tired never getting above 14.1v an often dipping lower when any accessory was running. I installed a new alternator today and weirdly-to me at least- it seems to behave like I would expect from a smart alternator. Start up runs around 14.2, then after a while it dips down to 13.8, if accessories get switched on voltage will dip down and then react and pick up again to 13.8-13.9…

Is that normal on 95 series? I was expecting the alternator to be an old school fixed output one so only revs would affect voltage to an extent?

I did a battery load test and is good. Ground is good with no resistance (00.1 ohm from engine or chassis to battery neg. Alternator is a reputable brand although made in China… like most nowadays. It’s an 80A alternator…I never noticed these fluctuations with the old alternator.

Thanks in advance!
