Hey everyone! We (me and my dad) have just bought an HJ60 on the net, which we are doing up as a project, hopefully for me to overland in a few years(currently 19 yo). We are probably going to be asking lots of (possibly daft) questions over the coming months! One of the first, is anyone fairly close to Reading/Maidenhead, and if so, is there any chance of us having a nose round with a digital camera(engine bay and underside) to see what might be missing on ours?!
Thanks in advance!

Hiya Streather family
19 years old, what age can you get a drivers license over there? Here it's 15, believe it or not.
Whilst I cannot help at all with advice on a 60 series (mine's a 70), I'm sure eventually there will be members about who can help. Also, I'm on the other side of the world so popping over to look at the motor would cost you the same as buying a brand new motor
The 60s seem like very trusted hard working trucks. Good luck with the build / project! _________________

And you NEVER did???
I'm a better driver now for it... A was just lucky I was a youngster at a rural mine in Africa, and the worst I did was hit a power supply pole while "rallying"...
Just a shame the pole supplied the entire mine... which I switched off at 3.45am. I know because our electric clock stopped at home and I could see it in the morning. It really was unfortunate that the previous night had been 24 December... No roasts, no turkeys... In fact no cooked food for anyone...
And I complain about the youth of today!!!!

Yes fifteen! In saying that, I didn't get my license until I was 18. Saw no point in it really as I had no income to support the running costs of a vehicle. Then at age 16 I moved out and worked on a dairy farm where I had free use of a 1984 Toyota Hilux - then I got my license. First vehicle I owned was a 1988 Isuzu Trooper - so for racing around, hmm, never happened _________________

yeah, we have it running... its pictures we need just to confirm what needs to go where(mainly wires)! We flushed the coolant, oil and diesel, and it started no worries! Next major job is taking the body off and sorting out the rust "spots" !
Cheers
