There's a current thread on this one on the forum. The answer is yes - if you want to grind metal off your brake calipers and no if you don't fancy that. It's been tried before. Check the thread for the full view.

Hi df1603

I changed my 18"s to 16"s on my Amazon but watch out for the offsett !

I bought some from a guy from Northants and the looked great, but stuck out about 3-4" outside the wheel arch, luckly he took the back, but then found some Lexus wheels on e bay and they are ok

Sorry I cannot remember the offset, but I think its stamped on one of the spokes of the wheel

Hi DF1063

Scroll down a couple of threads to:

"Tyres to replace STD Grandtrek's"

Sorry but you cannot compare a swap on an Amazon to a swap on a 120 - they're totally different vehicles. OK there may be shared parts, but unless some has tried this you cannot take at face value. People HAVE tried this in a 120 - there are threads, suggest that you read them through. I know that you've asked the question before but the answer, I'm afraid, remains the same. I went up to 4x4 at Leeming Bar with mine and they took a wheel off and tried to get a 16" rim on. It would NOT fit. The caliper was in the way. You want to grind some off, then read the thread on the above posting.

Is it because you are having difficulties with finding 17" tyres? I know that I did.

thanx for all your replies, I found the other post right I after I posted my question, so it was to late to delete it. Anyway, the reason I am asking for 16" is the fact that I cannot find any steel or alloy 17" wheels for LC120 easily...

Yes, I know the problem. I asked around and was told by several wheel specialists  that "No-one makes a 17" steel wheel for Toyota LCs" Maybe there's the possibility of getting some from the States. There are 17" alloys though, but they're not cheap. If you look on flea-bay, there are sets of 17" alloys come up occasionally. I've no idea how they become 'available' but I have seen them. No doubt they're legit, but you have to wonder who would be getting rid of a full set. What would they be replacing them with? OK could be an accident write off I suppose.

Do you have to have a spare set? I've run several 4x4s on BFG All Terrains now and they've been great all round. OK if you want something really aggressive for the occasional play, you wouldn't want MTs on all day every day. They really aren't made for that. Mine are rather slidey.

Genuine Toyota 17" steel wheels  are available through some German Toyota dealers.
