|

Not sure if this is a fault or not but just occasionally I'm noticing a slight hesitation on pickup from idle when the engine is revved. The best way I can describe it is if it was a petrol engine one of the cylinders was misfiring, due to a bad spark plug or HT lead. The idle speed is steady and once under way it pulls as normal.First noticed it a couple of weeks ago.Not sure what to check on a diesel and the fact it's intermittent doesn't help.Any diesel tech heads out there?Advice appreciated. _________________ Phil

hi, how many miles have your injectors done ? could be a dodgy injector, think i'm right in saying that they work on a dual phase principle, in that initial crack off pressure is lower than main injection pressure. If this is the case, then it is possible to have a low speed 'misfire' that won't show up when accelerating or using higher revs. First try strong dose of a proffesional injector cleaner, then next thing is injectors out, and get them checked by a diesle specalist. You can try, with engine ticking over, undoing 1 injector pipe at a time, listen for the one that makes little or no difference to the engine, then treat that as no 1 susspect. (this only really works if 1 injector is fairly knackerd) Hope this helps. Ps Automarine diesels in Brighton are good. |

They've only done 52k,not a big milaege really considering what they can do.You mention 'Professional' injector cleaner.Any particular brand?I've seen the Redex and Wynnes stuff in the shops but not used it.

Redex and Wynns are good, so is 10K Diesel (I think it's called something like that).
Alternatives are oil fouling of the injectors due to a bad oil control piston ring, or low compression.
Try the Injector cleaner first. I also got a new set of injector nozzels for mine from Germany for £120 the set off e bay. _________________ 1999 Land Cruiser Amazon VX Active 4.2TD Auto

Try giving it an Italian tuneup.(when warmed up thrash the hell out of the engine). _________________ BIODIESEL..Veg My Ride |

Check the fuel and air filters these can cause similar problems.
Also check the tank after a longish run - if you get a lot of air being sucked in to the cap it could be a blocked breather pipe or the breather valve in the cap sticking. _________________ Cheers,
