Hi all fellow yellow Diamonds
over in the Delica owners club and Pajero owners club we are planning a day out at Cowm (Whitworth) on Sunday 30th November.
We will get a discount for larger numbers.
There will be green routes for those who have not been off road before (many Delica's) and red routes for those who want a bit more adventure....
So I'm thinking...
how about some of you guys ? are any of you up for it ??
I have an air locker to play with in the Delica and I have not seen Cruisers in action (only the aftermath)
normal price is £25... if we get enough this may get down to £15 !!
any of you guys fancy a play ?? |

Bit far for me and when I washed the truck off for the first time ever last night I found hints of a Land Rover in amongst the corrosion! |

Sounds like a good day out. Would love to come, but not promising that even though we're in a Cruiser we won't get stuck .
How would we get in touch?
thanks

Righty...
##### IMPORTANT INFO #####
Opens at 10am
All drivers must have driving licence with them to show upon entry.
All vehicles must have with them incase of inspection Insurance and MOT - the reason for this is that the site is for road legal vehciles only, this is a good thing.
I have in the past been to sites that allow anything! so people turn up in £200 Suzuki's and have not respect for anyone.
I'm suggesting that the main run for everyone in convoy will be about 12-1pm (have a bite to eat first) then we can all drive the green route.
Any part can be avoided as its a mixture of normal dirt road and "sections". After we have done the green route anyone fancying having a go at red bits is welcome to have a go, but the main aim of the day is to get as many Delica's as possible to try out 4x4 driving in a safe fun manner, this means suitable for wife and kids in the car.
I plan to get there about 10 and have a drive round to see what I think..
Have spoken to John
1-10 cars - £25
10-20 cars - £20
20+ - £15
what I need now is the registration numbers of those coming.
please email me your name, reg number and vehicle so I can let Cowm Leisure know (thats how the discount is worked out, must be pre-booked but payment on the day) send to....
roverroller@gmail.com
thanks

I rarely turn down an opportunity, it's just a little too far for me given that we have similar mud here in Derbyshire. If derv was 50p a gallon, it might be different. Or if they built a dual carriageway straight there to cruise down. Mine is most certainly not an ornament. And it does gobble the old juice. But with Christmas coming blah blah blah.
Sorry

I cannot understand why the Delica's has not been used as an overlander (?), there is hardly any mention on the Hubb? An old Iveco van gets loads of interest say Delica and all goes quiet.
I have been out greenlaning with Delica's in the past and they are very impressive, are they unreliable / not tough enough? or are people just missing out because of misconceptions? |

The engine, gearbox front axle and rear diff are essentially pajero units,
they do not have a seperate chassis and as standard look like this...
Also to be fair they do not have a huge load capacity.. about 300-400kgs....
However, for 2 peopleto go overland say North Africa / Russia its would be ideal,
you can kit it our to sleep 2 inside in comfort...
So you can not just fling tons of stuff in it and still sleep in it...
but with some planning and though you can have a great trip in one...
I have heard of people doing a run to Mongolia in a older shape model and know of some guys planning the same trip in a L400...
To convert from standard to mine actualy is very easy and £450 suspension mods, wheels and tyres, saw (yes a saw) and a hammer give you the clearance...
An axle from a Long Wheel base and a visit to ARB give you a rear locker....
The Australians use them to go out in the outback and bush..... so they are up to the job,
just they are below the radar..... not a bad thing... look at the prices you can pick them up for....
Bare in mind the spec..... they are very hard to beat as an all rounder !! |
