When cold my 1999 reg Amazon 4.7 V8 won’t start unless you push the accelerator pedal all the way then start it.
When you try to start it normally it just sounds like the battery is dead. You hear the starter motor click but not turn over or fire up.
What do you suppose it could be?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Simon |

STARTER WINDINGS.. refurb or replace starter motor nessessary expensive unless glaze in wolvo will help..check price for a replacement from main dealer re-conditioned unit take the old one with you ..if the price is not right google for starter motor repairs specialist .. _________________ 1999 Amazon Auto VX 4.2 TD Active |

Why would pushing accelerator to the floor effect starter windings? _________________ 1990 HZJ75 trayback ute

huh?/ whoops missed that ... i dunno then is it the automatic choke then as it's petrol i believe..sounds like it be....the correct way to start a car with an automatic choke in cold weather is to floor the accelerator once to set it and then fire it up without touching the accelerator again ..if thats what your doing simon theres nowt wrong with it ..i thought you meant it was like a flat battery ..sorry for the mistake .. _________________ 1999 Amazon Auto VX 4.2 TD Active |

Hi
I don't know whether it's any help, but I found a pattern part (starter) for my mate's V8 4.7 for about £140 a year ago. Let me know if you need it and I'll try to track down the source.
best regards
