If you're finding that you regularly need to 'fix' your posts, might I be so bold as to suggest you might need to take a bit more care dontknow ... there is a <Preview> button that allows you to check your stuff before you post it Rolling Eyes

You can also add a reply to your post with updates in it if you need to.

AND ... Myself or a moderator can amend a post, if you drop us a PM Wink

The thing is, some sections DO have <edit> others don't.

The difference is, it's important that, where stuff like technical information is on the forums, it's in everybody's interest that that information is 'protected'.

In the 8+ years that I've been running 4x4 online communities, I have been caught out once or twice by 'disgruntled' (now ex) members, trawling through ALL of their old posts, editing them to remove useful content.

Now ... I do have regular backups, so the information is pretty safe, and I certainly don't want to tar everybody with the same brush however ... I hope people can see that this policy is in everybody's best interest.

I am looking at an option to add a 'limited time edit' facility on those sections where edit is not currently available ... allowing edits for (say) up to 24 hours following the original post?

Simon

Yes a lot have this on their forums, it seems to work well, but some only have 5 mins, but others longer. I find the 5 mins not enough some times.

I see the same function on some sites that I use. 5 mins is std, but 10 would be more than enough I feel. Given the apallinge speelin'g on this site I wouldn't worry to much if you post a blooper.  Embarassed

Now where's the eejit button?
