Has anyone ever tried putting together a round UK off road route.
I understand that some would have to be on the black stuff but a lot could be on the mud and dust.
This could be used by everyone and some good long days/ weekend could be had out.
Just needs someone to get all the information together from all the off roaders.
Here in Shropshire there are some great tracks only used by people who know them and I am sure that is the same for most County's.
Just think a whole week off roading from track to track.
Landowners could be included by offering rough camping sites for a small fee.

Mud is only clean water with a lot of dust added.

Yes thats the kind of thing I was thinking of.
But it should be a route that can be mapped out for all to follow (No Ramblers).
I am sure its possible It just need a lot of people to put a little in each.
I estimate you could use over 1000 different tracks throughout the country.

Wales looks the easy one to do you can almost go from Cardiff to the North Wales Coast now.

With the Rough Camping sites tied in as well !!!!!!!

I love the idea Malcolm, a general loop around the mainland mapped out for groups and individuals to travel on as and when!!!  One of my ambitions (when the kids have left home!!!!) is to drive around the coast on-road, an off-road trip would make a great addition and a perfect trip for a landcruiser.  I know of plenty of tracks around me ( south-west shropshire) but I guess you'd stick as close to the coast as possible.

Rob.

P.S.  Where abouts in Salop are you???

When I said round The UK I did not mean round the coast it can be a county to county route.
I would like to see many routes mapped out.
Say us in Shropshire map a track out from south to north and one from east to west then they can be picked up by the adjoining counties and carried on.
It is likely that the track would cross the boarders anyway so it can then be carried on.

I live in Shrewsbury

Sorry, I mis-understood you.  I like the sound of interlocking maps.  If something can get started I will gladly help out where I can!!! Very Happy

I spent a day in South Shropshire at the weekend working out a South to North route.

Once it is all mapped out and done I will post it up.

I think that this is posable but will take a few trips to map out and explore.

Anyone from adjoining counties want to take it from there

Cheshire is going to be a problem, as there is not many green lanes. Scotland has only 2 with one not useible. Wales on the other hand is easy Wink

We drove the South Coast of England a few years ago.  Not much off-road ( and we were in a Range Rover) but it was fantastic.  You get to see all sorts of places that you wouldn't otherwise go to.  Let us know when you're planning to go.

Have a look at Sweden Offroad Tour

http://www.swedenoffroad.com/indexen.html

Peter Öjerskog arranges a tour from the south to the north in Sweden, a new offroad experience every day.

Could this be possible in the UK?

Hi
Sound good but so many clubs in the UK trying to get them all together is a nightmare.

I just need to give it more time and try harder.
