For anyone who needs to add additional switches for stuff such as lights, winch etc, I can heartily recommend the Mud Pod from Mud Stuff.

Mud Stuff - The Mud Pod

This is designed for fitting on the Dash of Land Rover defenders however fits without modification to the bottom of the dashboard under the ashtray. The plate screws direct to the dash and then the pod mounts with two screws.

It allows the fitment of up to 12 switches (I have 6 Carling switches fitted in a 6 switch group mount) and three Marine quality 12V sockets and I think it looks pretty neat.

I'll post up a picture when I have taken one.

Certainly is - plus the finish while being black matches the grain of the hard plastic of the LC dash pretty good and by mounting it under the dash allows easy run for any number of cables.

Mark.

Actually doesn't work on top anyway - I did offer it up but due to the curvature of the top of the dash pad on the pre-95 80 series it would need a serious amount of modification. Mounted underneath needs no modification whatsoever - fits right out of the box, just need to cut the appropriate sized hole in the front to fit the switches, power points, gauges (52mm will fit). The one thing you do lose is the cup holder as it covers a lot of it up, however as I used to mount my CB there I haven't used it in ages.
