It looks like an ex-military trailer. It may have a NATO standard hitch rather than the more normal ball hitch. You need a matching pickup on your car to tow it safely. The hitch can be changed on the trailer but it costs quite a lot to do properly which may make the purchase a poor one.
I could be wrong, so it's worth a closer look if you are interested. If looked after, these are good strong trailers.

If I was considering it, i'd replace the tow bar with an AL-KO 3 tonne braked axle hitch.... _________________ Graham.

Heh heh - that's the hearse!! That trailer is used almost exclusively in SA behind taxis on long routes - and has usually got a coffin (occupied ) in it whilst transporting the deceased 'home' for burial - usually from Jo'burg down to the Eastern Cape / Lesotho. Good trailer - not to be taken off-road, but if it's the 3CR12 stainless one will last well - my dad has one and it's been going for years, and he lived in KwaZulu-Natal (Richards Bay) with heavy rust conditions Now in the Cape, where stuff also rusts... |

Ja, the Venters are great at their job, but would really struggle on a trans-Africa.
If you want photos of my trailers draw-bar to compare with this venter, I can take and send.
The difference is huge. A light weight trailer would need lots of additional welding/strengthening and a new axle to do the job.
I also recommend having a braked trailer axle - in fact in the EU it is law over a certain weight.
Some trailers such as Afrispoor dont always have an axle brake.. _________________ Graham.
