My Amazon has a stuck piston in one of the front calipers. After a bit of searching I came across this company:-
http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/
Anyone had dealings with them?
They are asking £104 for an exchange caliper for my Amazon which looks like a very reasonable price. They also offer seal kits and overhaul kits so I could take the existing caliper apart and replace everything if I was feeling enthusiastic (which I am not.)
They are based in Rochdale in Lancs but they seem to be linked to another company doing brake parts called Budweg Calipers
Any experience of their parts would also be of interest if anyone knows anything

Hi Willy
Sorry I have never delt with them, so cannot comment, But I would not just spend £104 unless there was a rusting, or damage to your caliper.
I would strip down the caliper clean and put some Rubber grease on the seals and re fit, and I bet it will be as good as new
I have just checked the prices, and you say £104, the ones I spotted was £115, then you need two pistons @£13 each and then seals at £11
then all plus VAt, so you are looking at nearer £190

My only concern would be the reputaton of the Budweg calipers - personally I've never heard of them before. _________________ Cheers,

I agree with you both. I have 'fixed' the stuck piston (grease + elbow grease!) but if the fix doesn't last, I will get the whole thing replaced. It depends on how much damage there is to the piston which stuck. The other 3 in the same caliper may not be as corroded but a probably not perfect.
I have previously got replacement calipers from a local parts shop. I don't know where they came from but they seemed to be OK. They didn't let me down. Going to a known source seems like a better idea provided the source isn't rubbish. Hence the question here.
I have previously recommended putting a good dose of red brake grease round the pistons under the weather seal. My Amazon has only done 63,000 miles and I was assuming that the calipers were still OK. I should have checked sooner!
Thanks both
