I don't think it is complicated, just not very intuitive in places.

Err, so that you don't crash and kill people maybe? This NOT Health and Safety nannyship - sorry - it's I don't want you looking at your screen whilst wandering over to my side of the road in a 2 tonne 4x4!!

Unfortunately the systems are a bit too clever to bypass now. My Pioneer is linked to the handbrake - so I just ran a bypass and put an override on the dash. But the Toyota one is clearly linked to the speed sensor or something. I have the factory GPS in my other Toyota, and I have postcodes - are you sure that you don't? It's under 'town'. When you enter that there is a drop down menu with post codes.

Understand what you say but the fact you bypassed your Pioneer is my point. People have to make their own decisions. If you have a passenger then why shouldn't they be able to make changes? Applies to adjust the audio, mobile phones, lighting fags etc etc.

Anyway, not sure about the postcode thing now that you mention it. I'll look again. The BMW unit took postcodes, but only the first 5 digits, which wasn't that much use really.

The sat-nav in my LC5 has postcodes but only takes the first 5 digits.  Doesnt that get you to within 100 metres of your destination anway?
