I think the dash in your 04 is probably quite different to my 01 but for mine the whole centre piece comes out quite easily. I pop off the blanking plate on the left side, stick my fingers in the hole and pull Then work my way round pulling some more till it's free. _________________ Jon m0zxj

In the FSM it looks like the sections the vents are in are clipped and can be pulled off which will expose 4 bolts holding the main central section in place. I'll try and sort out a pdf upload for you to look at. _________________ Jon m0zxj

Are you trying to remove the stereo to replace it or just needing to access it for something else? Your dash layout doesn't look like it's a normal DIN sized unit but I'm pretty sure to get at it you need to remove the side panels with the vents in first. _________________ Jon m0zxj

Hi Jon
I am trying to remove the radio, as I think there is a problem with the antenna, (or the plug) as sometimes the radio station is
very weak, so wanted to check if the plug has fallen out !

Hi
New to the site. We have a 04 100 series Kakadu, which we bought in Australia and imported. The radio is rubbish here and we want to replace it - struggling to find out how to get the dash off myself. Did anyone conclude on this thread?!
Thanks for any help! |

Hi Fylip
Sorry I did not do any thing about it, but as said I thing you take off the two side pannels, and
that gets you to some screws (but not sure)

Thanks for your thoughts.
I did find some exchanges on the site (no idea how to re-find them however!) which implied the whole central segment came away with spring clips (I'm thinking it means just pull out), but the pictures - while very helpful - didn't show where you stuck your screwdriver/blade to prise out the spring clips. Too cautious of busting the dash to want to just give it a go.
Actually re-reading this my comments fall into the "correct, but unhelpful bucket"! If I can re-find the thread, how do I direct you to it?
Cheers
