Are the controls on the steering wheel, or a column stalk?

If column, which side is it?

Where is the vacuum actuator mounted?

Does it have a seperate vacuum reservoir?

Dave.

I have seen them on a stalk on an import 1996 model.

If you are thinking of getting one then the Command AP150 with stalk control will work well.

You can get them here

Mines on a stalk just below the indicators, dont work though as mines an import & it's got something that makes the mileometer read in miles not kilometers & it stops the cruise working.

Mine's connected to the steering column, right side just below the indicator stalk. Pretty sure it moves with the steering column. Stubby little knob that has an oblong push-button on the end of it. Can take a picture if you want. But don't know where actuator is located.

Actuator and gubbins located R/h side of engine bay, infront of brake master cylinder, it's under a plastic cover, will remove and have a peek soon, let you know more soon Smile

Thanks guys. As I'm going to keep mine (haraah) I was thinking of adding it. It would be nice to make it look as original as possible.

I think the actuator unit is electrical, rather than vacuum operated. You can get both aftermarket, but I prefer the vacuum ones as they're a bit smoother. The electrical ones can be a bit jerky I've found, though it's fair to say they've been aftermarket ones. The OEM one may well be better quality. There's a vacuum pump on the engine, but maybe Toyota went for electrical due to not much vacuum (unlike a petrol engine).

Hi Dave, had a look at stuff in engine bay on R/H side just back from air filter. It's all electric, little electric actuator/ motor, and wiring. Mine also has a throttle position pottentiometer fitted on top of fuel injection pump. As it's a manual can only asume it has something to do with the cruise-control, although may be emissions control related. Whatever, I don't think it would be easey to retrofit from a breaker, maybe after market is way to go, as all the wireing is part of the main loom. Smile

I think the pot on top of the pump is for the EGR system, very similar to the system on the LR Disco.

Thanks guys. I've got some details of aftermarket stuff, just want to make it look as factory as i can.

Shold be easy enough to fit, only need power etc, and a speedo signal and pulse number, and brake light signal.
