I bought a 12v electric kettle, so decided to try it out in my colorado. First in the front 12v power point it worked for about 5 mins then the light went out on the kettle so decided to try it in the cig lighter socket same thing happened! So thought ok I've blown the fuses. But No! the fuses are fine! but no power to either point? Any Ideas what could have happened?
cheers
Clive

Hello Clive,I take it you had the LC running whilst trying your kettle,if not you may have run the batteries down.I know this sounds obvious but have heard it happen many a time.If your kettle is anything like mine it takes about 20-30 mins to boil.Very frustrating at 1am stuck on the M11,you have to put the thing on before you get thirsty
Good luck

Hello Ben,
Yes I had the LC running, everthing else is fine, e.g the radio which is on the same fuse as the cig lighter is still working! Could the wires fry? but why didn't the fuse blow? sounds like the same kettle, do you use the power outlet to power you kettle?
Cheers

Sorted
at the back of the lighter and power sockets where it connects to the power plug is a small fixed (I guess) fuse wire both had gone, that explains why the main fuses never went. Now we have power! but do I chuck the kettle?
Every days a school day

Hello.Im afraid to say i don't own a LC yet, still looking!!!!!!!The wife is quite happy with our espace but i want a LC.Women, what the hell do they know about machinery!!!!!!!!!.I use my kettle in my Transit van and it has been slow but ok.Perhaps the kettle is pulling to much power, check to see what consumption the kettle is and then see what rating the fuse is for the 12v outlet, you might find it not enough.
Schools over for today!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck

Hello Ben,
it say's the kettle should use a lighter socket circuit & fuse rated to 15amp. the fuse for the outlet is 20amp so I thought it would be ok but the socket circuit must be of a lower rating (no markings on it !) which seems pointless to fuse it to 20amp. So plan to replace it with new socket rated to 15amp or higher.
Good luck with your search for a LC,
I'm realy pleased with mine, I bought it to tow and lauch a dive boat and carry loads of gear and still have room for passengers.
Great tool for the job.
