took serveral attempts (about 10!!!) today to close and lock the bonet, suspect that the catch needs adjustment, anyone else had this problem? if so, how did you sort it? |

It may not need adjusting. They collect a lot of muck and dust etc which can make them stick. I would try cleaning it first, maybe with a jet wash on low power, but don't be tempted to do the rest of the engine! Then plenty of oil on the moving parts. That might very well do the job.
It may not even need cleaning, you could just try a good oiling to start with.
Hope that sorts it. _________________ Rick |

Check the 'wire' inside the cable pull is not sticking and holding the latch partially open. A good squirt of some type of lube inside the outer sheath should loosen it up if it is sticking or hard to move. My motor was sitting up for about 10 months before I bought it and a few things like that came to light because of lack of use. _________________ '04 KDJ120R LC5. Died 17th Dec 2010. RIP. |

Of course, apply a bit of lubrication! Why didn't I think of that? _________________ Rick |
