|

Hi everyone and the big question is, where have I been?!
I've been a Toyota owner since 1997 and I had no idea this site existed, it's a goldmine!
Here's the question; I'd like to fit a 2 metre band radio (standard DIN size) into the dash of my LC04 (2006), there appears to be a space/blanking plate under the ashtray/cigarette lighter area. Can anyone tell me if this will work i.e. how much room (if any) is behind the console. If it will fit, how do I pop out the blanking plate?
Your time, esteemed ladies and gentlemen is greatly appreciated!
Many thanks...

Welcome...
There is space there but I am not sure you will get the depth nor anyway to mount it. IIRC, there are no brackets for you to connect to. You could make up your own which hang down from the radio.
Honestly, take a look. It'll take you 5 minutes to get the trim off and peek behind the radio.
Here's a link which shows the trim removal.
I found the easiest way is to remove the bottom silver bit first using your finger nails, then with a 10mm socket, undo the bolt holding the upright silver strip on. Grip the tag where the bold was and pull gently but firmly. It'll pop out. Once out, you should be able to see behind the blank space...
Let us know how you get on. _________________ Cheers,

Good advice and that link is MINT!
Now I know how to get into the dashboard AND how to run the antenna cable to the rear of the vehicle.
Many, many thanks!
I'll post another message when I've had a look at the job ahead.
Right now in Germany it's snowing fit to bust so this will have to wait for slightly better weather. |
