Hello all.Looking for some info please on imports.

Have recently looked at an imported 4.2td vx on a J plate imported at the start of 2004 70,000 miles and in superb condition.

All the paperwork is obviously in japanese with date stickers for next belt change etc but i was wondering what to look out for.It seems a bit odd to spend 000's to import a car then sell it a few months later. How can you find out if the car has been in an accident or the true mileage.

What's japanese for knackered?????????

You can check the mileage and history on any Japanese import with these people, I checked out a Hilux the other week and it had been clocked by 50,000km, so the small amount that the test cost's saved me a lot of money.

Check if the air con is R12 or R134a. R12 is V hard to get hold of and is not cheap.For ref an R12 charge is 1050 grams + or- 50 grams.
Make shure ALL the lektriks work and the windows work smoothly with no slowing down when operating.

btw, cheers Andy for the link - I have suspicions about the mileage on my car and will be getting a check if they do them for motors imported into Ireland.

Hi guys,thanks very much for your info,much appreciated.I meant to say the LC is on e-bay if anyone fancies a look,only a few hours to go.It's up to 5,800 at the mo.
