I'm planning to undertake a few overland trips - starting with the Pyrenees in August, then Morocco or Western Sahara next Easter. It became clear that drawer units would be particularly helpful for packing the myriad of bits 'n' bobs that you need to carry. However, being a tight Yorkshireman, I didn't fancy shelling out £1,000+ Crying or Very sad for the privilege of buying one.

A few days off work, a few too many trips to B&Q, and £150 for plywood/runners/handles/carpet, and hey presto 'thumbright'

If you would like to see a short pictorial history of the project, follow this link to Google Docs. Please don't look too closely, as I certainly ain't a carpenter!

cheers thumbright

Hey,

Looks absolutely brilliant. Has certainly given me some inspiration to think about how I can to my 80-series.

Thanks for sharing,

Good looking drawers! I'm looking at building some for my 80 series. What's the approximate weight on those? Got any photos with gear stuffed away and that compressor stowed? Also, what are your sliding rails rated at?

Cheers!

David
