Having recently lost my keys (OK I left them in the xray box at Manchester Airport) I had to use my spare to start the LC.

Firstly, the key fob remote would not work. Remembering what the dealer told me, keeping the button pressed for 10 seconds worked.

Secondly, the key would crank the engine, but not start it. It turns out that the transducer in the key became out of sync with the engine security, and now the key is useless (Have not used the spare keys for over 12 months).

Thirdly, my lovely kind Toyota dealer (*beep*) informs me that it is £2300 for a new engine management system and new keys, and that the manufacturer of the Toyota alarm has gone out of business.

I managed to start the car with the 'Grey' master key, and that is the only one that will start it. I need to know if anybody else has had this problem, and also if anybody knows where I can get a new alarm 'key fob' and new keys cut and programmed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Simon

im pretty sure I saw a thread somewhere on programming a new compatible key using the car itself using a combination of door opening and key turning.
I think it was on lcool_90 aus. Check out the tech docs there.
I might be wrong though :(
