I'm not yet but thinking of doing my license, if only so I can get a rig (want a Kenwood with the built in APRS / TMC) and try out APRS with the Computer Aided Dispatch system I'm working on with some guys in the states. Got vehicle tracking with GPS working but want to go the whoe smash with APRS - plus it's free once you have the kit rather than paying for every data packet sent.

yeh I have been looking into that a while ago, you have just reminded me to look into it again....  Laughing

Hi Toby

Yes still use radio a lot, Mainly on 70cm on WP

I see you are not too far way from me, do you not have 70cm? Much better class of operator !!

Radiotwo

I used to be on 70cm a lot like u say better class.....
much more normal and pleasant conversations...
Well I have no radio's at all set up at the moment...   Shocked
When I moved house (a good 2 years ago) I never put the aerials back up...
Kind of a health thing really think I will have to get someone to put them up for me at some stage and get back on the radio..
I will dig out my 70cm mobile rig and get that put in the truck and see if I can get you..

Yep another amateur here ! 2E0WIN I got the Yaesu 'motorsport' bluetooth dualbander in the Landcruiser and a selection of antenna in the rear of the car - just in case. I take the ft817 out with me too for some qrp with the elecraft atu and a good old racal military dipole wire set.

G1EYO with a VERY little-used FT897. What should be radio time seems to be taken up with so many other things these days.

Hi, been licensed for about 34 years as G1ZCW  used to read the RSGB news on a sunday morning for Lincolnshire on 2 mtr and 70 cm  and also run the GB7SKG BBS  after I took over from the guy that was running it in Skegness.  Put the old 2mt in the truck and still have the complete line up of Yaesu FT 102 (fantastic set up) as well as the Nagg 144XL amp for 2mt, used to run it about 150 wats for the full news broadcast with crystal clear voice all over lincs, but now just don't get time to use the stuff so will be selling the lot plus all the other stuff I have here, well, apart from the old 2mt and CB in the truck.   Might get back into it one day ? but for now the computer and mobile suites me fine.

Hello from G4WWS ( Clitheroe,Lancs)

My new drive is a 1999 swb Colorado. Only 2 weeks into this so  still thinking  about an antenna mount and wondering if i should go all out
and install my IC706 and AH4 combination then I don't have to mess with mono band  antennas up and down the HF bands.
