Newbie member here (but 16 year LC owner!)

I have spent days searching the forum and wider web for a solution to replacing the factory stereo with a single DIN unit in my 2000 VX V8. Sorting out cables does not seem to be a problem but brackets and fascia are.

Autoleads suggest that neither brackets or fascia are required but that is clearly not true. I have an old DIN unit that I tried to fit just to confirm what was needed. The factory brackets are not quite wide enough so need replacing and the fascia opening is way too narrow to allow the head unit to pass through. Even when trying to locate the head unit face behind the factory fascia, the rotary controls on each end of the head unit could not be accommodated through the fascia opening so I clearly need a new panel or some surgery and a trim piece.

I found a couple of companies in the US (Metra and Scosche) that have bracket kits but still no fascia (besides, US spec cars might have been different to UK cars back then so I am reluctant to try that route).

I've seen lots of post on the forums about fitting aftermarket head units but haven't found one that specifically covers a 2000 100 series and what needs to be done to the fascia.

Any one out there done it and can point me to the right bits?

Thanks in anticipation!

Is yours an import, just sounds strange that a normal radio doesn't fit, maybe some pictures would help.

Not an import, bought new from Toyota UK.

I'll get some pics together and post tomorrow.

Being a Newbie, I am not able to post a link to the pics at the moment due to the anti-spam policy of the forum!

Will have to try in a day or two.
