Here's a few things to try to sort out this common problem ...

1. Resynch - Stand close to the car and press both buttons on the fob together - hold them down for at least two seconds (this will only work with the car the keys are intended to work with! )

2. (if step 1 didn't work)...

Reset the circuitry - Press and hold the furthest button away from the chain (arm button) - now, whilst keeping it held, undo the screw on the back and remove the back cover - this will remove the battery.

Keep the arm button pressed down and wait at least 10 seconds, then replace the back cover. Now release the arm button and test the remote.

If it still doesn't work, try Step 1 again.

3. (If all else fails) ...

Unlock the car with the key, the alarm will sound for 30 seconds, during this time get in and close the door and turn the key to ACC.
Wait until the alarm stops, then start the car.  This will temporarily disable the alarm for the current journey.

When you get to your destination open the door before you stop the engine. Once you close the door the alarm will rearm itself

Top tip - you can use the time that the alarm is temporarily disabled to open the bonnet and disconnect the siren, saving the 30 seconds of noise when you return to the car - but you would still have to 30 seconds to start it up.

The key fobs on my 1999 Colorado have been playing up, I've tried all of the above mentioned methods but no joy. As i was passing my local dealers I popped in to the spares depot to enquire the price of replacement, however I was greeted with a laugh and the offer of a Thornton's chocolate whilst he fixed them.

The method was so simple, remove screw and take the fob apart, depress both buttons together to discharge the fob completely, reassemble, approach the vehicle and press the top lock button once.

This pairs the fob and all is perfect, hope this helps others.

Just done this now... Having complained for months that it doesnt work properly; followed your post and the fob now works perfectly.

Magic, thank you.
