It would appear, now that it has finally started to rain properly in Cornwall, that i am unable to stop my Landcruiser without skidding like some out of control loon! I don't drive that fast, but when i have to brake quickly in the wet my back wheels seem to lock up a bit to quickly for my liking, I understand it is a heavy car but i think something must be wrong. Anyway hows about fitting ABS from a 80/100 series to a 70? can it be done or is it a total waste of time and money???

Anything is possible but....., not a 70 expert but if you have a rear axle load senseing valve sounds like that may be stuck or faulty. The idea is as you load the rear up it alters the brake balance to give more rear brake line pressure. If this is stuck/ broken/ or misadjusted then you may have max rear bias even when no load is applied, this will make your rears lock up first. Normal practice unless you are Colin McRae is to have more brakeing to the front wheels, also check that front brakes are in good order. Retro fit abs is not an easey option, if almost impossible to all practical intents and purposes. Sad

thanks for that advice, i will get it checked out. She does get quite wobbly under braking, this could explain it.

I'm actually running my 80 with the ABS disabled at the moment. It actually brakes better but then I know my rear LSPV is working well. I would say that is your problem. The LC is set up to work better with a load in it, like a pickup when there is no-one in it, the back end is very light, thus the need for the LSPV to function correctly.
