I don't know if it will help on your model, but on my LJ78 and KZJ78, I jacked the axle away from the chassis for each shocker - it took some of the load off the mountings and made it a bit easier. _________________ peterB |

HI....I have a 97 reg colorado and brought two rear shocks to fit. It seems similar to the Prado as the top fixings are a pain to get to and after many fruitless hours spent trying to remove the top nuts have decided to ask local dealer to do! If you find an easy way of removing the top nuts please tell ! |

Thanks for your advice.I ve had a look underneath and can see what you mean about the back shockers, so I ve decided to put it in and get both sets done as they are leaking.I m also going to change the springs as mine has been lifted about 2 inches and looks a bit high.I will post the price of parts and labour once its been done as a guide for anyone who,s looking to do the same. |

Mine are coming on the 27th (ish) and want them fitted before the 1st of April for the pay and play day at Bristol so it will be a bit of a mad rush. (as normal ) |

Just replaced the rear springs on my Prado LC, whole job done and dusted in under 2 hours.
One of the easyist spring changes I have ever done and what a difference to the ride.

Fitted my rears now, shocks and springs.
14mm socket on a Breaker Bar on the top nut, then stilsons on the piston guard.
You don't turn the top nut but turn the piston guard with the stilsons, holding the top nut still with the socket / breaker bar. It's really a two person job though. |

any ideas on the life expectancy of rear shocks and springs?
I'm starting to wonder if mine need replacing.
Does seem a little bouncy on back end when loaded up.
currently at around 90k.
cheers
