Gentlemen,

So the swap begins shortly. My wife's desire for a bit more power and interest in working on her Yota (1991 LJ78G) has caused me to purchase a 3L motor to swap in on her current 2LTE. As I am familiar with the "L" series engines, having a 3L in my 91 Hilux, I feel pretty comfortable with this swap. We plan on utilizing the 3L injection pump to make it a 3LT "sans E."

What I'd like to get an idea for is the "best practices" that you all have experienced in terms of rebuilding the L series motors, as well as ideas about what you wish you would have done...

My plan currently includes:
-utilizing the current exhaust, intake, turbo, head (swapped with brand new 3L some 5000 miles ago).
-replace all timing essentials
-new glow plugs
-potentially new injectors
-new oil pump
-have cylinders matched to new pistons/rings
-new bottom end bearings
-swap over oil cooler, etc for utilization ISO turbo oil flow
-get oil sump drilled/welded to accept oil return

Anything I am missing or could improve past that?

Thanks,

Jon
