DJR is quite right - but of course in reality, you only need to keep the last receipt for oil and say "Officer, this is the 1st time that I've tried it" . What they going to do? They have no way of tying your mileage back to the amount of derv that you bought - seeing as you paid cash for most of it ; )

What (and please give names) type of SVO do people use? I intend to nip to the cash and carry and try (to start with) a 70/30 split in favour of expensive diesel but would like people's thoughts on what SVO they use?

i used veg oil, rapseed  for well over a year in my old pajero with no ill effects.at the time it was costing me under 40pence a litre, now with the rising cost of it if their is a risk i dont think its worth it for how much you would be saving, but thats just my opinion.take a look at pajero website lots of info on there.

But, Boonie, the cost of derv is rising too. Faster than the price of oil. At present there is up to a 40p per litre difference depending on supply. It may be that if we have a good summer, following last year's disaster weather, that there may be a better crop and oil prices MAY come down. For me, 40p difference at 21 mpg is worth having.

Not sure that mine starts as 'cleanly' since I started on the veggie oil. When it has been standing overnight I get a cloud of white chip smoke when I fire up.

That's a great price. I can't get a costco card though. If you've any tips on getting one I'd be interested. I don't have a business.

I have read the above and think I'll give it a go. I see that the Costco KTC Oil is soya oil but I dont suppose that it makes a difference.

Is there any reason why SVO should not be used in the 3.0 D4D engine rather than the TD? Sorry but I dont really know the difference!
