I need to replace the front Shocks on my 1988 LJ70.....Anyone have an opinion on Gas or Oil filled !!!....I have to confess i only use my 'Old Girl' on Tarmacked roads and not Off-road

All shocks use oil as the damping medium and nitrogen gas to control frothing. If the shock is monotube then it uses high pressure gas. If it is twin tube then it uses low pressure gas. For your use I would recommend a twin tube layout. Try Rough Trax in Bristol.

Replaced the shocks on my kzj70 with monroe shocks from roughtrax. I use my 70 for light farm work so mainly on the road and light field work.  Found the shocks more than adequate.
