|
|
97 series 80. Having removed my rear seat belts (second row) to do a bit of sound deadening the threads on the floor fitting bolts have partly stripped. Does any one know what size these are? They are marked TK 52 on the bolt head, the thread is around 21mm in length and 11mm in diameter, I’m assuming they are metric but they may not be, they fit a 14mm socket.
Any help would be appreciated otherwise it’s off to the garage.
Cheers

Seat belt threads are 11mm x 1.25mm. The taps are available on the webb. I suggest you buy high speed steel HSS.

Thanks Roger, do you know what the TK 52 designates? Bolt hardness/torq. |

This is probably the makers reference number. As regards strength, I would expect that as the bolts are specific for seat belt mounting, you will note that the bolts are flanged, then expect a strength figure of 11.

Having done a bit of Googling it looks as if 11mm, 1.25 full thread bolts do not exist. There also seems to be a bit of confussion on this subject as during my search for info I have found reference elsewhere to 7/16 UNF bolts being used for the same purpose, they are available but I’m yet to find them with a flange. It appears that you cannot buy OME from Toyota without buying the full belt assembly! I’m tentatively edging towards taping and fitting the 7/16 UNF with a washer unless there are any words of wisdom offered folks.
Cheers

Try the Tap and Die co. in London. They list them. Originally this size was restricted as it was purely for seat belt mountings and the powers that be did not want "ordinary mortals" making up their own mountings.7/16 UNF are imperial sizes. If you need extra bolts try a breakers yard. They will all be to the same standard. Only lengths differ.
